Week 2 of FanDuel was a pretty good one for me in the FanDuel Writer’s League.  I finished 8th overall in the Fantasy Football Championship league which gave me 70 toad hides to pocket (they’re dry, don’t worry), but it also put me in the lead of the writer’s league, which if I win, would give me a trip to Vegas Baby! Where I am assuming I would be so money.  Here’s my week 2 team. I would like to thank Mason Crosby for his leg.

If you want to join up I think it’s 10 bucks, but if you click through here, you get a 5 dollar bonus.  The Championship League has weekly prizes for the top 10 teams and there have been around 500 teams each week so far.  If you aren’t into the big championship league you can go head to head with other fans, hence the “FanDuel” name.

We get 60,000 to spend at our leisure. I ended with 0 dollars so that’s either a good thing or a bad thing.  Here is my first attempt at my week 3 team —

QB Michael Vick (PHI @ JAC): The Jags pass defense is weak and Vick is wanting to prove he deserves the starting job.  As long as Vick is the 13th ranked QB I’ll use him to shift money elsewhere.

RB Pierre Thomas (NO v ATL): With Bush gone I expect Thomas to get a lot of work.  The Falcons have given up 2 long TD runs.  Lets see if they can do it again.

RB Ray Rice (BAL v CLE): Rice has been bottled up a little this season, but he hasn’t looked bad at all.  The Ravens need to beat the Browns at home to keep from going 1-2.  I think they’ll be ready to go.

WR Miles Austin (DAL @ HOU): Austin has been the lone bright spot for the Cowboys and Houston just gave up a boat load of yards against McNabb.  This could be a high scoring game.

WR Hakeem Nicks (NYG v TEN): He isn’t on the practice report and should be able to go fully against Tennessee, whose D is highly ranked right now due to Jason Campbell, Dennis Dixon, and Charlie Batch.

WR Santana Moss (WAS @ STL): Washington has absolutely no rushing game right now, so we will see McNabb to Moss a lot against the poor St. Louis pass D.

TE Dallas Clark (IND @ DEN): With no Champ Bailey the Broncos pass D will need to double Reggie Wayne and leave Clark in one on one situations against LBs for Clark.

K Ryan Longwell (MIN v DET): Longwell hasn’t had many opportunities with the sad state of the Vikings offense, but Detroit makes living a lot easier.

D New England Patriots (NE v BUF): Ryan Fitzpatrick is more apt to take risks. That’s good news for the New England defense.

  1. Harley says:

I’m in a 10 team, .5 ppr league. We start 2 QBs 3 WRs and 2 Rbs. I’m set at QB with Brady and Flacco, and have Calvin, the original Steve Smith and Welker at WR. My RB1 is Best, but my RB2 is a mix of BJax, Run DMC, Jerome Harrison, Ricky Williams and Hightower. I have Mike Williams (TB on my bench)

I just got offered Mathews and Bowe for Calvin and BJax. What do you think? I can use Williams (who I like) until Bowe proves start-worthy and its a good opportunity to buy low on Mathews. I’m not sold on BJax and Calvin might have trouble putting up the numbers I thought he would with Shaun Hill in there and even when Stafford comes back.

The only thing is, in a 10-team league with only 2 RBs starting, there is RB depth available. Do you think I should stick it out with a combo of McFadden, BJax and Hightower for now, and hope Ronnie Brown gets hurt or someone emerges? Thanks.

  2. Damion says:

Yo Doc. My friend just made me a trade offer,

He’s giving me Kolb, Calvin Johnson, and Jahvid Best for
    my guys,

    Vick, Floyd, and Ray Rice.

Im tempted, but not too sure because calvin doesnt get thrown to alot because stafford is hurt. And Kolb we already know his story. I think Jahvid and Ray at this point are even., Let me know what you think.

  3. Suck My Wieters says:

Is it ok to drop Derrick Mason now, say for someone like Keiland Williams?

  4. Doc

    Doc says:

@Harley: Can’t say I’ve been enthralled by Mathews and Tolbert is getting goal line looks. But BJax is pretty much in a committee with Kuhn. It’s a fairish deal. All depends on what you think Calvin will do. I like his upside enough to hold off.

@Damion: I’d rather have the Rice side.

@Suck My Wieters: I’d hold there.

  5. Matt Leinart says:

Hey Doc, I have the number 2 waiver priority. Should I use it to pick up Thomas? I have Calvin, Marshall, Jacoby, Naanee and Wallace now (we start 2 WR and a flex), but if he turns out that could allow me to flip a WR. Should I wait for something better to come along at the top of the wire or put in a claim?

  6. TonyD says:

Will Braylon still be the Jets #1 WR even when Santonio comes back? Also, would Braylon for Demaryius Thomas be a fair trade? I like DT’s upside especially with the Broncos receiving corp.

  7. Jack says:

I take it you’d start Nicks over Bowe?

  8. John says:

    Hey Doc,

What do you think of Welker & Bradshaw’s value compared to others at their position? I ask this because I have an offer on the table of Austin + for Welker and Bradshaw. I feel that both Welker and Bradshaw are a lot more valuable than they were when I first drafted them.

The question is: what, with Austin, would it have to take for you to give up Welker+Bradshaw?

  9. Big Nate says:

Doc – I’m looking at my 0-2 record and looking to make some changes to this roster. So far, my RB’s are been the big underperformers so I’m looking to acquire some new blood at that position. Here’s my current roster:

    QB – Schaub
    RB – Turner
    RB – Greene
    RB – Stewart
    WR – Santana Moss
    WR – Nicks
    TE – Witten

    BE – B. Scott
    BE – Royal
    BE – Holmes
    BE – S. Rice
    BE – Crabtree

Right now I am being offered Ronnie Brown and Orton or Matty Ice for Schaub and Santonio Holmes. Do I make the trade?

  10. TonyD says:

    @ Doc

I have Kolb and am about to make a trade. I don’t have another QB and there aren’t any decent QB’s on the WW. This is the trade I’m about to propose:

Vick and Green Bay’s D for my New England’s D and Ahmad Bradshaw

Bradshaw and Green Bay were both drafted in the 6th rd and both of us picked Vick and New England off of the WW… Which side would you rather have or is this a fair trade???

  11. Joel says:

Doc: Redskins @Rams or Chargers @ Seattle D this week?

  12. Jack says:

@Jack: Also, would you start Zach Miller @AZ or Marcedes Lewis vs. Philly?

  13. hideousmutants says:

Anyone (everyone?) dropping VJax with today’s news? I’m starting Colston and Wayne so I don’t see a need to use up that spot with a guy who can’t play for 5 weeks but am wondering what you all think.

  14. White Lightning says:

In a 12 team keeper league PPR. I have been offered Jon Stewart for my Joseph Addai. Two weeks ago I would have taken this trade without even thinking about it as I love Stewart’s upside, but he has gotten off to a slow start. Do I still make this move?

  15. Doc

    Doc says:

@Matt Leinart: Always a tough call. We can’t predict who will be available so I usually go for it. i like DT quite a bit.

@TonyD: I don’t think it will be really cut and dry, but i see Holmes getting more targets. I think it would be fair.

    @Jack: Yes

@Big Nate: No, Schaub is too valuable. Just as an aside, is Snelling available? If you really want to shop Schaub i think you could do better than Brown.

@TonyD: It’s about need and you need Vick. I’d give it a try.

    @Joel: Going with Skins

@hideousmutants: Unless you have a deep bench I can see dropping him.

@White Lightning: I’m starting to worry about JStew. I think he’s a decent buy low, but Addai is more consistent.

  16. MJD Took A Knee says:

Yeah Vjax that sucks. I don’t think I can hold him.

    12Team NonPPR

    Fred Taylor – D.Brown – K. Williams – John Kuhn

I could pick up Taylor vs BUF for this week and play him instead of Knox vs GB at Flex. Or I could play Hillis @BAL if Harrison injury keeps him from playing. If I picked up Brown I would maybe only play him week 4 and just hold him on the bench. K. Williams I like the most although I don’t know how much upside he has right now.

  17. Joe B says:

@Doc: I’m in a 12 team keeper league with 0.5 points per reception… I want to drop Nate Burleson for Golden Tate hoping his role expands and given his good upside. Is this advisable considering he would be a WR5 or WR6 in my WR corp?

    Roddy White
    Greg Jennings
    Mike Wallace
    Lee Evans
    Sidney Rice

  18. Joe B says:

@Doc: Also to add from above… do you think Branch or Butler would be better adds? I know Seattle is not a great situation, but Butler and Branch are currently above Tate in the pecking order.

  19. hideousmutants says:

Is there a D on this list anyone likes better than TENN this week?

  20. Big Nate says:

@Doc: I drafted Snelling as the handcuff to Turner. It was awesome when Snelling outscored my whole team with the exception of Schaub on Sunday.

If I can get DeAngelo instead of Brown, does that do it? Then I would start Orton, DeAngelo, Turner and Greene or J. Stewart.

Are you down on the Panthers from here on out or are they buy-lows?

  21. Mr2Bits says:

Doc : You running Keller or Gonzalez out there for your TE this week?

Not sure how much longer I can wait on Gonzalez to find some balls.

  22. Mr2Bits says:

Bengals running away. They will be a top 5 D this week as Clausen will be humiliated wishing he was back in South Bend

  23. Doc

    Doc says:

@MJD Took A Knee: Addai sat out today so Brown could see some more work, but it’s early.

@Joe B: I would say Tate has the most upside, but of course could go all season with 20 receptions. But I’m not a fan of Burleson right now so I could see trying it.

@hideousmutants: I like the Bengals vs Clausen

@Big Nate: Yeah, I’d do it for DWilly.

@Mr2Bits: It’s really close. I’d give Gonzo one more week.

  24. MJD Took A Knee says:

Yes just seen the Addai out of pratice with knee. Grabbed Brown.

  25. John says:

  26. Doc

    Doc says:

@John: I’d say Austin and a committee back should get the job done.
