We have finally arrived, and all I can say is, man, I gotta go to the bathroom. Crazy long trip, this was. That was my Yoda-typing. It about, you must think. Okay, I’m going to stop, it just looks like I’m having a stroke. Anyhow, look at this long journey we’ve been on together, and finally, we have arrived at the pinnacle moment where all the blood, sweat, and tears (aka– my last relationship), have accumulated to bring you not just 10, not just 50, not just 100, nope, that’s right… we’ve brought you 200 names ranked in the order of who I want on my fantasy team this upcoming season. Remember, this is not a mock draft, nor are they rankings based on 2013 stats. This is a list of guys I like. Maybe I have a crush on them, and to be honest, I wouldn’t mind going on a date with them. Because what’s this life for if people aren’t buying you dinner? Trust me, it’s worth nothing. And yes, there will be things you like about the things I like. There will be things you dislike about the things I like. And there will me saying ‘things’ too much. But that’s okay. Because we can all agree on this– Jamarcus Russell is terrible at football. But not at eating. Good for him.

Note: These rankings are for Standard Leagues with 12 teams. Remember, this is not where I would draft these players necessarily, but where I think their end of season value will place them. And the tiers aren’t really tiers here. They also are not tears. C’mon buddy. They are just friendly bookmarks to represent the rounds in a draft. Thank me later. Actually, no, thank me now. NOW.

  1. I like this way of organizing the draft picks. Just for reference, you’re ranking based on 12 teams standard, 6pts QB TD, eff kickers and DEF, astrological signs, yada yada?

And do you have plans for doing the hard core numbers guessing of projecting stats for your top 200?

Otherwise, I like the ranks (I like Olsen, but 4th/5th round like though?), with Reggie Wayne being a favorite of mine for a homer alert.

Can’t wait to watch Peyton go first round in my buddies league. I haven’t decided if I’ll laugh, or just spit beer all over their faces comically. Hopefully they don’t follow you!

@Jamaal of America: Thanks! And that’s correct, as you can tell, I don’t think much of DST’s or K’s.

There will be projections and auction values, coming out later this month.

And yeah, the rankings are where I see end of season value, not necessarily where you should draft Olsen. He obviously is one of my favorite value plays this season…

In my dynasty league I have Julius Thomas & Jordan Cameron.

Thinking about offering Ben Tate & Cameron for Spiller & Tavon Austin.

    What do you think?

@booya: I like that trade for you a lot.

this is why i lose fantasy football year after year, I get caught up in baseball and by the time football rolls around I am clueless. what’s a winning strategy? i went Arian Foster, Brandon Marshall, Frank Gore last year and finished 8th/12. Did I just get unlucky or is it time to start picking WRs in the first round? Wasn’t Megatron the best fantasy player last year in PPR?

    • Jay

@Papajeansegura: Yeah, those aren’t bad picks or anything. I’m of the mindset that luck plays a huge part in football, simply because anything can happen in a 16 game season.

The top-200 PPR rankings come out Tuesday, so stay tuned! (Hint, he’s definitely top-5)

Jay- why so down on Leveon Bell? Guy was a beast for the 12 games he played- a repeat of his production easily gets him in the top-10 RBs. Worried about Blount, injury risk (that concussion was the scariest thing I’ve ever seen live in football), or do you just think he played over his head last year?

I’ve been thinking he has been underrated when listed at around 15 on other sites- he’s a second year back whose per game averages weren’t far off from Lacy. I was thinking room to grow in a PIT offense that was pretty dynamic in the second half last year, but your ranking certainly gives me pause on my enthusiasm.

    I demand an explanation!

@High as Greg Kite: Building off what you stated, when you factor in the hiring of new OL coach Mike Munchack along with the return of pro-bowl center Mike Pouncey (missed all of 2013) you will see a return to a more zone based blocking scheme which is a key reason why the Steelers selected Bell over Lacy in the draft (another was Bell is a top receiving talent out of the backfield) as it better suits his running style. Steelers were forced to abandon this scheme after Pouncey went down last season in the first game. I’m bullish on Bell and can justify a ranking in the RB 8-9 area, especially in PPR leages.

@Winged_Balloon: As I stated to the previous commentor, there a lot of factors at play here, and I’m fully aware that he’s being ranked fairly high (along with Ball and Benard) compared to my rankings. These are fluid placements, and he may creep up as the season progresses, along with the fact that I think he could produce top-10 numbers, I’m not sure it’s this season. I still have question marks with the OL and it sounds like Blount is looking very strong right now…

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@High as Greg Kite: Those are all factors. I also think Green Bay’s offense is more dynamic, and I’m curious how much the Steelers OL has improved. This is more of a case that I like others on the board, as opposed to just not liking him. I just think the surround factors might limit him a bit.

you not believing the RBBC for doug martin? or that he’s just that much better than other options. I own doug martin and leveon in a keeper, and can tell you i’m more worried about doug martin than i am leveon, yet to be honest i’m pretty worried about them both!

thanks for all the work, looks great!

    • Jay

      Jay says:

      @pickleball: Thanks!

It’s going to be run-heavy, and I still think he gets the majority of touches. I think he has a bounce back year to be honest, and will be a great value pick.

      • pickleball says:
        (link)

@Jay: ok so one quick question, obviously this is all subject to change
doug martin wont be a savvy bargain because he’s a keeper, so no slipping in my draft.

        my keepers= Le’veon $12, montee $17, Doug martin $17. we can only keep 3

would you pair a $17 doug martin and $10 crabtree to get a $24 Dez, or just keep those three runningbacks above.

        thanks

        • Jay

@pickleball: I’m okay condensing your assets, but I’d try to move Ball in that deal instead.

Jay, are you going to have an article about draft strategy for 12 team H to H? Just looking for thoughts on runs on positions, RB over WR and QB ect. I’m in a league where we have 19 player roster and start 11 of those with 1 QB, 2 RB 2WR 1 TE and a couple flex players plus kicker and Def. Any thoughts would help. Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Nimrod: Totally. It will be out in the next couple of weeks, along with projections and auction values and other draft riff-raff.

For that specific format, it looks okay to stick with standard ranking. Unless the flex includes TE. That might shake up things a tiny bit.

    Hey Jay, Need you help!

    My Team –

    Qb – Ryan
WR – Nelson, Crus, A. Johnson, Wright and Wayne
RB – Lacy, Stacy, Tate, P. Thomas, D. Williams, L. Miller
    TE- Rudolph
    K- Crosby
    DEF- STL

Just hit waivers – J. Reed and Roethlisberger….Should I drop someone and add Reed or Roethlisberger?

    10 Team Y! standard league H2H.

    • SMLV1 says:

      @SMLV1: Cruz not Crus

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@SMLV1: I’d probably drop Crosby for Reed, depending on how much kickers are worth in your league.

      • SMLV1 says:
        (link)

@Jay: Is he worth using my Waiver claim on? Im at 5 out of 10 teams.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@SMLV1: He’s a top-10 TE for me, so yeah, unless the context changes everything.

  10. SMLV1 says:

I am going to need a kicker for when the season starts. So ill have to drop someone to add a kicker for week 1.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@SMLV1: I’ll be touching on this in my strat content coming out soon, but I’d rather just stream DEF and K starting week one and just hoard position players in hopes something emerges. In this case, I think you can go up to week one and then make a more informed decision on your offensive roster, stream a kicker, and have the better team for it.

@Jay: Thanks Jay! Looking forward to your future articles!

Hey Jay, how are you? I love the rankings and can’t wait to see overall 200 ppr… Can you (or anyone else) give me your opinion on my keeper… We only keep one player year to year. The scoring is fairly standard except all TDs are six…1 or two point bonus for longer TDs and large yardage games 1pt 300 passing, 2 points 400 passing, etc) and HALF PPR. I am having a tough time choosing between Brees, Jimmy Graham and Demarius Thomas. I have first pick and should be getting LeSean McCoy or another RB1. Thank you very much if any of you have any insight!!

    • Jay

@Randy W: Thanks. Those rankings come out tomorrow btw.

If I’m reading that scoring correctly, I think you have to go with Brees. He had 11 300 yard+ games last season…
