Welcome to Week 13 all you crazy Razzballers. It’s been a fun season so far. There were lots of not so fun injuries but lots of guys stepped up and hopefully you grabbed a few of them. I am thankful for DeMarco Murray, Timothy Tebow, Cam Newton, Kevin Smith, Laurent Robinson, and Antonio Brown scattered about on my teams and some other dudes as well. Overall I’m not having great seasons but good enough to have some playoff bound teams and in the leagues I care most about. And of course there is always FanDuel to play which I’m addicted to. If you want to Duel me just white glove slap me in the comments.

Good luck everyone! I hope all your players exceed expectations!

Through 11 games let’s see how some quarterbacks stack up to the single season records. The first name will be the record holder and then the current leader and how they project out.

Completions: Peyton Manning 450: Drew Brees 323 –> Proj: 469.81

Attempts: Drew Bledsoe 691: Drew Brees 460 –> Proj: 669.09

Passing Yards: Dan Marino 5,084: Aaron Rodgers 3475 –> Proj: 5,054: Drew Brees 3,589 –> Proj: 5,365

Passing TDs: Tom Brady 50: Aaron Rodgers 33 –> Proj: 48

QB Passer Rating: Peyton Manning 121.1: Aaron Rodgers through 11 games 127.7

Completion Percentage: Drew Brees 70.6%: Aaron Rodgers through 11 games 71.8%

Rookie Passing Yards: Peyton Manning 3,739: Cam Newton 3,093 –> Proj: 4,498

Rushing TDs: Steve Grogan 12: Cam Newton 10 –> Proj: 14.5

Rushing Yards: Michael Vick 1,039: Tim Tebow 418: IF he’d started 16 games —> 1,114

Drew Brees came just 15 yards from beating Marino’s record in 2008. It will be interesting if he can keep up the pace this year. It would put him 1st and 3rd all time which ain’t too shabby.

It’s fun watching Cam Newton put up the season he is. I’m no draftnik so I’m not going to fault anyone who thought he would suck but I sure do give props to the Panthers for taking him #1 overall. He of course has a long way to go to be as good as Peyton Manning, whose record he should break, but he will finish his rookie season with a better completion percentage and QB rating that Manning did his rookie season. And at 22 years of age he has a ton of time to get better.

Of course Aaron Rodgers is the guy and the guy behind the guy and that other guy too. He’s on pace for 5k yards and to set the record for completion percentage and QB rating. And that 48 TD pace isn’t too shabby either.

Tim Tebow’s numbers are always fun to look at. He also would be on pace to shatter the rushing attempts by a QB record. And the low totals of yards passing and completion percentage for a starting QB would probably project to be a record as well but hey he is what he is.

Of course these projections don’t take into account these guys might see limited action in week 17 but hey, it’s still fun to take a look.

    Really desperate here Doc:

12 team standard league must win

Play B Jacobs or A Bradshaw?? UGH

  2. Dann says:
    (link)

    Chet,

Please pick 2 to start in 12 team PPR

Kevin Smith, CJ Spiller, Maurice Morris, Antonio Brown

    Thanks!

  3. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

@Jeff: I think if Bradshaw goes you have to play him. They’ll be in pass mode a lot and he’d be the guy between the two. And since you have both you can wait until game time to choose.

  4. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

@Dann: Brown for sure. Then between Spiller and Smith unless we hear something to change Smith’s status. Spiller is the safer play though.

  5. Nick says:
    (link)

@Doc: Do I start K Smith or Helu in my 10 team standard scoring league? I’m a huge Jet fan so I will be rooting against Helu…therefore leaning Smith but thinking Brees might force Lions to pass… that could work in his favor with quick check-downs…Smith awesome in open space and seems like hes going to get the green light tomorrow. What are your thoughts?

I have C. Johnson/Robinson/A Brown at WR1/2/3 & Forte/Murray at RB, Gronk-TE, Jets D,Akers kicking, Tebow slinging. With Holmes/Starks/T Smith/Knox & Sanchez on my bench, do you like my arranged lineup?

  6. EH says:
    (link)

Doc, in a 12-team PPR I need this win to get into the playoffs. I have one flex position available. Would you start: Andre Johnson, Peyton Hillis, Santana Moss.

I am leaning toward Johnson but he let me down last week and has a no-name QB throwing his way. Hillis has the bruising Ravens with Ray Lewis is coming back. Please help.

  7. Matt B says:
    (link)

hey Doc, in a bad spot for RB2 non-ppr. Which would you start?

    Tolbert @ JAC
    Mo Morris @ NO
    LT @ Wash

  8. BC says:
    (link)

Hi, need help with a flex spot. Deion Branch, Crabtree, Toby Gerhart, TB Mike Williams, CJ Spiller.

    Thanks

  9. Frank Rizzo says:
    (link)

    Hey Doc,

I need help in picking a rb, wr and a flex for week 13…… my league is ppr

My options are Roy Helu, Ryan Matthews, McGahee,
    Percy Harvin, Andre Johnson, Plaxico?

Also I was wondering if your QB input changed out of picking between Fitzpatrick, Rivers, and Palmer?

    Thanks for all your help.

  10. Haley Joe Osmond says:
    (link)

What defense this week? Jets, steelers, or pats?

  11. jeffito says:
    (link)

So I need to play 2 of these 3 in a PPR league. Spiller, Herbart and Pierre Thomas … leaning toward Spiller and Herbart just due to the number of touches they should get.

  12. paulzone says:
    (link)

all comes down to today for the playoffs:

    Cam or Stafford

Pick one: Turner (inj), mcgahee, reggie bush, helu

Pick two: harvin (quest), crabtree, julio jones (ques), damian williams

    0.5 ppr/3 pt bonus for 100/300 yds

  13. Clueless says:
    (link)

Need to start 2 of these 3 one in my WR slot and the other in my FLEX

    VJAX
    Antonio Brown
    D Sproles

I have G Jennings as my other WR and my starting RB’s are Rice and M Bush

    Thanks

  14. Clueless says:
    (link)

forgot to mention in a PPR!

Need to start 2 of these 3 one in my WR slot and the other in my FLEX

    VJAX
    Antonio Brown
    D Sproles

I have G Jennings as my other WR and my starting RB’s are Rice and M Bush

    Thanks

  15. Vickers says:
    (link)

Pick 1: Benson or Spiller (non-PPR)

Need help with FLEX: Spiller, Julio Jones, Andreadful Johnson (non-PPR)

    Thanks

  16. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

@Nick: Smith is the better play on paper for sure. I’m rolling with him in a couple leagues but he is risky. If you want to play it safe I could see going Helu.

    @EH: I’d lean AJ there

@Matt B: Tolbert but that is a bad spot

    @BC: Leaning Gerhart

@Frank Rizzo: As log as harvin is a go I’m leaning Harvin, Mathews, McGahee and Rivers

@Haley Joe Osmond: Between the Jets and the Pats for me and I’m leaning the Jets but it’s really close.

@jeffito: I’d go Spiller and Gerhart

@paulzone: Tough! Cam, Turner, Harvin, Jones (all your injured players!)

    @Clueless: Brown, Sproles

    @Vickers: Spiller, Spiller

  17. The G says:
    (link)

    ‘Sup Doc!

Dez Bryant @ Ariz or S. Johnson vs Titans?

Outta these 5 RB’s, which three do i start?: Ray Rice @ Clev, M. Bush @ Miami, D. Murray at Ariz, Mendenhall vs Bengals, or Roy Helu vs Jets…
(PPR standard scoring) Trying to take sole possession of first place today!

    Thanks Doc!

  18. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

@The G: Dez, Rice, Murray, Bush

  19. Vickers says:
    (link)

    One more Doc:

    Stevie Johnson or Andrea Johnson?

  20. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

@Vickers: Close. Hoping AJ gets more looks today! Going AJ

  21. Vickers says:
    (link)

Any word on Kevin Smith? I have MO MO Morris on my bench.

  22. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

@Vickers: Reports are that Kevin Smith will play. That hurts Mo Mo of course.

  23. Steve says:
    (link)

10-Team Dynasty League. Brandon Lloyd for my Starks + 1st Round 2013. Is it too much for Lloyd (guess it depends on how important you think the pick is…)? Thought about him because I only have Fitz/B-Marsh/Nicks and nothing after that + that scary matchup for Nicks in the playoffs. Thanks doc.

  24. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

@Steve: Yeah, depends on how badly you want to win this season. It’s fairly even though.

  25. Steve says:
    (link)

KFFL tells me Starks is the most valuable player involved in this trade (and it doesn’t include the pick), hehe. Gotta say, I trust you more, doc, over KFFL.

  26. Haley Joe Osmond says:
    (link)

So if kevin smith ‘s status is starting, do you like him better than spiller for flex? (Nonppr)

  27. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

@Steve: Yeah, the problem is the Packers have 2 young RBs that will cut into his work and the offense isn’t made for RBs.

@Haley Joe Osmond: I like his upside more but I can see playing Spiller to be safe

  28. paulzone says:
    (link)

@Doc: i just knew you were going to pick the “all infirmary” team!!!

  29. JimParkey says:
    (link)

    Doc, spiller or Greene??

    Txs

  30. Radiohead says:
    (link)

Doc – which TE do you like out of gresham, chandler, keller or daniels? .5 PPR. Thank you!

  31. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

@Radiohead: tough but I’d lean Keller

  32. MJD Took A Knee says:
    (link)

Do you think Peterson and Manningham will both be shut down for the season? I think not picking Foster #1 is going to sink me.

  33. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

@MJD Took A Knee: I doubt AP gets shut down. I could see Manny possibly.

  34. MJD Took A Knee says:
    (link)

Thanks Doc. Just lucky I am in playoffs and have the first round bye so don’t need AP until week 15.

  35. bobbo says:
    (link)

    @Doc:

    Matt Ryan or Ryan Fitzpatrick?

    (1pt/10 rush, 1pt/20 rec, 1pt per rec, +5 at 100 rec/rush):

Start 3: Forte, SJax, Ryan Matthews, Beanie Wells, Kevin Smith, Starks

Start 2: Andre Johnson, VJax, AJ Green, Percy Harvin

    Hou or Cin D/ST?

  36. ELaw says:

    QB Question:
    Big Ben or Fitzpatrick?

    Flex Question:
David Nelson, Roy Helu or Kevin Smith

    Thanks Doc! Love the site.

  37. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

@bobbo: Ryan (but close), Forte, Wells, Mathews, Harvin, Green, Houston

@ELaw: Ben, Helu for safety, Smith for upside/risk

  38. principal blackman says:
    (link)

    Hey Doc,

It looks like I’m going to be in need of a TE in my 14-team ppr league in light of the looming Fred Davis suspension. The pickings are slim on the WW. My options:

    Ed Dickson
    Jake Ballard
    Jared Cook
    Heath Miller
    Marcedes Lewis
    Ben Watson

    Any advice?

  39. Anthony says:
    (link)

@Doc: Where can i find Carls from aqua teen hunger force LOCK OF THE WEEK ???

  40. Nick says:
    (link)

@Doc: Do you like Garcon, McCluster, Gerhart, D Brown, D Thomas or R Cooper for ROS in 10 team over my T. Smith, Knox, or Sanchez (I have Tebow starting ROS, so can I dump Sanchez?)

I want to strengthen my bench with Forte going down today. That leaves me with Murray (who is asleep today?), Helu, K Smith & Starks.

  41. barker says:
    (link)

kevin smith or mark ingram for flex tonight

  42. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

    @barker: Leaning Smith but risky

  43. ELaw says:
    (link)

12:55pm…I kept switching Helu and Kevin Smith back and forth. At 12:59…I settled on Helu. I was so happy lol.

@ELaw: Glad you went with Helu!
