On behalf of all of us at Razzball, let me start by wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Hopefully you enjoyed the day filled with family, food, and football. As it has been since 2006, we got 6 games on Thanksgiving including the traditional Cowboys and Lions games. The NFL laid these games out perfectly for us as we got a boring bread and butter appetizer game between Detroit and Chicago to kick off the day. After that, we were treated to the main course which was a Dallas and Las Vegas game that had an exciting second half and even went into overtime. The Thanksgiving slate finished with a sloppy pie a la mode game between Buffalo and New Orleans. Let’s recap the appetizer, main course, and dessert games.

There were some epic battles between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier back in the 1970s including the “Thrilla in Manilla” and “The Fight of the Century”. We had the Ali vs George Foreman “Rumble in the Jungle” and the Foreman vs Mike Tyson “Ear Biting” match. Iconic slugfests that will forever be remembered in boxing history. Well, football fans all over the world were treated to a different kind of heavyweight slugfest in last night’s kickoff to the 2021 NFL season.

The NFL schedule makers gave us all a treat by scheduling two of the most high-powered offenses in football in the Thursday Night Football season opener. The Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers got to kick us off by playing host to the Dallas Cowboys in a game that brought us all the jabs, crosses and uppercuts that we remember from those iconic heavyweight boxing matches. Coming into the game, we had a superstar showdown of 44 year old Tom Brady facing off against Dak Prescott who was 11 months removed from being carted off the field with a sideways ankle. The star power was abundant on both sides, and neither side disappointed in a game that hit 60 points and made a lot of fantasy football managers happy.

Well, every single player in the NFL got injured in Week 4. At least it feels that way. Now you are forced to sort through the backups and rubble to salvage your season. Do. Not. PANIC! Plenty of good streaming fliers out there to keep you afloat. If you read the Razzball suite of articles you’ll be wearing your league’s championship belt before you know it! Let’s get into it!

If you’ve got any league-specific questions drop ‘em in the comments below and I’ll reply before the Wednesday waiver deadline.

Last week’s waiver wire recommendations didn’t go entirely according to plan. Only the Rams defense and Jeremaine Kearse performed as I predicted. However, some of those guys like Rex Burkhead, Evan Engram and Younghoe Koo were me trying to play the long con. By season’s end is when they’ll start having their value.

Finally football season is back in full swing and we can start making REAL predictions. No more prognosticating — just cold, hard facts. Like the Jacksonville Jaguars and LA Rams meeting in the Super Bowl! FACTS!

Here we go with my waiver adds of the week! These are guys you should think of grabbing if one of your starters is injured or if Kirk Cousins was who we thought he was. Obvious grabs of the week: Marqise Lee (due to Allen Robinson’s injury), Kerwynn Williams (due to David Johnson’s injury) and Kendall Wright (due to Kevin White’s injury.)

It’s not easy finishing ahead of 54 others, especially in Fantasy Football. But like Jeremy Langford against a suspect Chargers defense, you emerged. Let’s see if you can do it again in Week 10, because I’m not hedging my bets on a repeat for Langford vs. the Rams. Speaking of which, you can join Jay and Razzball’s general FanDuel strategist, Zach, along with your fellow readers in this special Razzball-only Contest! Buy-in is just $5.00 and the top-12 finishers in this 55-team league are all part of the prize pool! Sign up here! Regardless, here are some smart plays for the Razzball Week 10 contest…

At home. Drawing pictures. Of mountain tops. With him on top. Lemon yellow sun. Arms raised in a V… Every Forte owner that handcuffed him with Jeremy Langford didn’t miss a beat this past weekend. And the owners that were able to snag him from the waiver wire were just as happy. With Matt Forte out with an MCL injury, Langford was given the start and as Eddie has said thousands of times over the years, “Jeremy spoke in class today”. He did so with 142 all purpose yards. He carried the ball 18 times for 72 yards and touchdown and caught 3 receptions for another 70. The touchdown was his third of the season. Forte has only two. On the season Forte is averaging 78 yards rushing and 27.3 yards receiving per game. His 548 yards on the ground on 136 carries comes to 4.03 yards per carry. Langford averaged 4 yards per carry on Monday night. Like I said, Matt Fore who? Ok, now maybe that’s a bit harsh. After all, coming into this game the Chargers defense was giving up 116 rushing yards per game. Only Cleveland had given up more. San Diego’s defense was also near the bottom with respect to receiving yards yielded to opposing running backs. Needless to say this is somewhat of an unfair sample. Nonetheless, it might make for an interesting situation in Chicago when Forte is ready to return.

Good Afternoon, loyal followers! Yes, I’m talking to you! All four of you! If you feel a little déjà vu reading this article, it’s totally fine. You’re not tripping from all the hallucinogens you dropped following The Grateful Dead tour around the country… You’re just re-reading a few names you’ve read here already. Since I’m sure you’ve all been absorbing these stat-filled riddles like sponges, I’m going to attempt to give you some opinions based on personnel and personal (not a stutter!) observations I’ve noticed over the first third of the season. However, I can’t completely avoid the numbers, so just bear with me. On a positive note, the last three weeks have been quite a resurgence for the Streamer Department. We’ve nailed three Top-10 QB’s, three Top-10 TE’s, a Top-10 DST, and 2 Top-10 Kickers in that time span. Let’s get after it!

The last time we referenced a Denzel Washington movie in the title, things turned out pretty well… so I’m going to put my hands together and pray for a similar outcome.  Hallelujah!  Praise the Fantasy Overlord!  Although he can’t harness Biblical powers, Eli Manning is your best overall streaming option for week 5.  (Side note: Philip Rivers is the only QB that CAN harness Biblical powers, i.e. 2014).  Before you stop reading, hear me out.  Well, maybe I don’t blame you for leaving… I’d leave too… but if you’re willing to stay, there’s more to our streamers than just an Eli Manning recommendation.  Last week in the Streamer Department, we nailed the 2nd overall defense (Miami), and a top-10 quarterback and kicker to boot (pun intended).  That’s two solid weeks in a row!  We’re looking to improve on that this week with the seven options below:

So here’s my final go in another Expert League. Scott Pianowski must really like my money the way I play this game as it’s the second league I’ll be in with hm. I covered the first one here. I drafted before the Baseball All-Star break then. For the most part, this league is similar in set up except that it’s a 12 teamer rather than a 14. I do also think there are some similar owners but, hey, that would require me to pay attention to other owners. Neverthewho, here’s results for my last draft for 2013 Fantasy Football…

So yeah, it seemed so long ago that we christened our relationship at the beginning of the football season, talking about Romoception’s and getting Olgetree’d. Those were the days, were they not? While I did lay down a schedule for my readership that did not come to fruition– covering the MNF and TNF games, I […]
